About Summit Coaching & Training
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be self-employed doing what I truly love to do, but I was scared to take the risk of leaving my full-time position. After a horse accident that left me unconscious and with a broken helmet and severe concussion, I knew I couldn’t wait any longer. With a lot of courage and belief in myself, I took the leap to pursue my passion as my career. I am now an Ultramarathon Trainer & Coach, and a Mindset Coach. I also hold a Corrective Exercise Specialist certification. My areas of specialty are resistance training, movement mechanics, injury prevention and recovery, and helping my athletes develop the mental strength to successfully take on their challenges.
I began to operate Summit Coaching & Training in St. Albert, Alberta, under the roof of Athletes Nation ONE, which is a specialized sport performance training facility. I had the opportunity to work with two of Canada’s most highly certified strength and conditioning specialists and a phenomenal CSEP Personal Trainer. While at Athletes Nation ONE I worked with many junior hockey teams, a ringette team, runners of all distances, BMX athletes, people with severe injuries, horseback riders, and people investing in their long-term health. All ages, from 9 to 75!
Following my time at Athletes Nation ONE, I moved my business to SVPT in Edmonton, Alberta. At SVPT, which is an award winning private personal training facility, I learned from a tight group of very experienced personal trainers. They helped me expand my knowledge and skillset, and I had the opportunity to work with more people from the general public who want to improve and maintain their long-term health.
I am now working solely online, and have clients across Western Canada. I work primarily with people who run ultramarathons. This is my truest passion – helping others go really… really far. I combine 12 years of experience with competing in ultramarathons with my lived experience with very difficult challenges, and then I mix in my passion for mindset coaching to create my Run Far program. It’s a one stop shop for ultramarathon runners!
The Summit Coaching & Training Difference
The aspect of my business I am most proud of is my coaching ability to help my clients navigate the most challenging times. I have helped many people overcome injuries, ranging from concussion to nerve damage to chronic tendinosis to acute sprains or breaks. For a person who is active every day, having an injury that limits or stops their activity is more than just a physical challenge. It’s equally a mental and emotional challenge. I use my experience with working through and overcoming severe injuries to help others get through their challenges.
Running can be as much a mental challenge as a physical one, and the muscle that typically is left out of the training program is the brain! So my clients and I work on training their brains. We use proven strategies to develop the resilience and fortitude to recognize when the brain becomes the limiting factor, and the strength to overcome that. I coach each client individually, in the way that they need, and help them develop the tools that will work best for them.
I pour my heart and soul into my work, and I give my best to my clients. I am invested in their success and do everything in my power to help them achieve that. Sometimes it’s through tough love, and others it’s through gentle encouragement. I learn their strengths and tailor their programs and my coaching accordingly. We work on weaknesses as well, especially if those weaknesses lead to pain and imbalances in the body. But focusing on strengths builds confidence and self-efficacy, and that’s where my clients shine.
